I wrote this about a time when my heart was broken from a lost love and I wanted to die.  I was just 21 years old. I felt the battle going on inside of me.  Then I felt the battle above me.  The battle for my soul.  My soul was won as I was filled with the Holy Spirit.  I have faced many battles since, but I now know I am on the winning team!   I hope you find some love and encouragement as I share my words and heart with you. 

I just want to scream

Escape this dream

The darkness overwhelms me

I can’t see beyond the misery

I can’t find the door

I collapse to the floor

I can’t escape the pain

I can’t explain

As I cry WHY

WHY Do I want to die

That is a LIE

The attack is not from me

But I have an army

To conquer the enemy

To handle the battle the fight

So let your emotions take flight

Release them to the sky

The darkness inside

Can’t hide

From my light

The battle rages

Throughout the ages

Lord help me please

I don’t want to die

I won’t fall for that lie

I know you can’t see

Just trust in me

Look up now across the sea

Take up you Sword

Just believe

Because you are Loved

From Above

Like the Dove

Just be still

Let my Spirit fill

You with my love my light

The battle is already won

Though we have just begun

Can you hear the wave

Be Brave

Whoosh

Do not fear

I am here

I cut through your pain

Let my love reign

You choose True Love

The Peace is your Release

Take up your sword now

I will show you how

Where it broke apart

Feel the warmth there

Tears In A Cup

This poem is born from the time I was living in an abusive marriage.  I hated myself for fighting back.  Then someone told me, it was because you were living like a caged animal.  Through all of my life, there is always hope.  The rest of the poem comes from my heart from reading scriptures in the Bible.

Nights and fights
Tears and fears
Is there any hope
Where is the rope
Caged like an animal
Screaming inside to get out
There is hope if I look up
For he holds my tears in a cup
And pours them out to the light
And what do I see
A rainbow in the sky
Emeralds encircling his throne
Embracing me in beauty
Breaking the bars
I am free, free to be the new me.

And the one who sat there had the appearance of jasper and ruby. A rainbow that shone like an emerald encircled the throne. Revelation 4:3

Be Bold

What do I hear?

What is that sound?

I want to know

Where can love be found?

Be a light

Shine bright

Don’t fear

I am here

Just knock on the door

Yes, once I was lonely

Looking for love in all the wrong places

But even there I found where your grace is

I went from worse to worse

I was living under a curse

Then one day

 I found my way

Now I long to live my life

Not in strife

But from glory to glory

In the Ocean’s roar

In glimpses of is Glory

The devil tried to stop me in my tracks

But, I heard the Lord saying I’ve got your back

When I lost all hope and couldn’t think

That is when I heard him sing

Have no fear

I am with you, I am a mighty warrior

I will calm you with my love

You are my princess daughter

That makes you more than a conqueror

I will heal your sickness

Even in your weakness

You will be stronger than before

I have so much more in store

I will make a path

How excellent is thy loving-kindness, O’ God!  Therefore, the children of men put their trust under the shadow of thy wings. Psalm 36:7 

He will cover you with his feathers; you will take refuge under his wings.  His faithfulness will be a protective shield. Psalm 91:4

Speak of My Love

Can’t you see

So easy, yet there is the enemy

He will try to take you down

So much tragedy all around

But do not frown

My love abounds

People need my peace

So I release

My power this hour

Open your eyes now

I will show you how

I will lift you up and you will see

So others will see too

In all you do

So many emotions bottled up inside

Where can I go to hide

First my dream seemed to die

Or was that a lie

Then we had to shelter in place

With a mask on our face

Lost my dog along the way

Why couldn’t he stay

George Floyd my brother

Cried out for his mother

Where can justice be found

Do we have to take everyone down

Why do we all disagree

When will there ever be peace

Then I thought I was following another dream

Sometimes all is not what it seems

So what do I do now

Somebody show me how

To grab hold of my dreams again

Where do I begin

On my knees I pray

Lord help me to find my way

Let me be an instrument of your peace

Your love I want to release

I will let my hope uncurl

For you have overcome the world

For you have great plans I want to see

Plans to prosper me and not to harm me

Plans to give me a hope and a future

Our hearts you will suture

I wrote this poem around the time of George Floyd’s murder.

What do you see

Did you dream

Like me

Of standing on the mountain top

Where His love will never stop

Longing to go to the beach

Is the dream out of reach

Toes in the sand

This is how I stand

Against the slaughter

Until Justice Rolls Down Like Waters

Righteousness like an overflowing stream

This is my dream

That the oppressed will be free

As we witness history

In the making

There is a shaking

More than survival

A revival

We will sing

Glory to the King

Can you hear, are you listening

The sound of many waters roar

As we stand on His shores

Overlooking the crystal sea

No more brutality

My dream becomes reality

I can hear the foghorn thru the midst of the stormy sea

So cold, so cold, so cold to my bones

Is this happening to me or perhaps I am in a dream

 Where am I? I drifted off course

 So close to shore, but so far away from my destiny

If only I can make it to shore safely before I drown in sorrow and shame

What is that ahead, I can’t see. There, there, there it is

The lighthouse breaks the waves as they crash all around

My ship was guided by the light that shines thru the night

 I made it home and landed on solid ground

I am safe, I am safe, safe in HIS embrace

Now I know I heard your voice as the sound of the waves

and thunder thru the midst of the sea

The horn a warning for me

I awake, I awake, awake to the sweet sound of harps

as the light shines in the morning dawn warming my heart

I am safe, I am safe, safe in his embrace

So I Smile

I wrote this poem at a time I was in pain from a cycling injury.  Lord thank you for helping me smile through the pain and for your healing touch, even though it took some time.  Amen.

The pain is wearing me down

I am wearing a frown

Lord help me find relief

From the grief

The pain is too much

I am waiting for your healing touch

Lift this weight off my back

I feel like I am under attack

I endure the pain

The strain

And I pray

For the day

When you will wipe our tears

I will no longer live in fear

There will no longer be pain

There will be no strain

Until then

I know I will win

Don’t let the battle Rage

I just wanted to leave

Yet I believe IN Love and Peace

Then I Heard as My Heartbeat Fast

This war will not last

Do not fear, for I am near

The right time

To shine your light

In this dark night

I heard the Vets and they shared their war battle stories

I saw their Glory

One through song that I belong

The other through his struggle

Of bombs going off in his mind

As he tried to find the rhyme

As he read his poem begging us to recall

How he gave it all

I heard the Vets

Do no regret

Remember those that already fought

With their own life they bought

Your Freedom

Your Kingdom

Come

Let your Will be done

For this battle has just begun

Yet the War is already won

For he shed his blood for me

He gave HIS life

As a sacrifice
