In a world of hate

but I don’t fear it,

though I feel its weight.

I am not alone,

Your strength is with me;

although I bemoan,

all the pain I see.

Help me shine your light,

show the lost Your way,

so wrongs be made right,

this I humbly pray.

Let ev’ry heart know,

Your presence is near;

make this world below,

a place without fear.

Dearest God of love,

may all taste and see,

Your grace from above,

and a new world be.

spare me your silly shouts of praise,

spare me your claps and noisy gongs,

spare me your empty hands upraised.

Spare me your presumptuous romance,

spare me your talent shows and offerings,

spare me your serenade and your dance,

since you ignore the poor in their sufferings.

Have I not shown you what true love is,

when I laid down my life for your sake?

When you show care for the least of these,

in this, verily, great joy and pleasure I take.

like thunder, or like whisper,

From all your sinful ways–repent,

Patience is a character no one can upbraid.

Faithfulness leads us to God’s secret place.

Gentleness tells all that we know His grace.

Self-control will help us to finish the race.
