AV – Month of comfort during and after a struggle

This is the fifth month of the religious calendar and the eleventh month of the civil year. Av is named after Menachem Av, which means Father God, our Comforter. Isaiah 51:12 (NKJV) reveals, “I, even I, am He who comforts you.”

Historically this is the day that King Nebuchadnezzar invaded the first temple. Historically this is the day civil war broke out in Jerusalem. Historically around this date might be Shabbat Chazon or the Shabbat of Vision or Prophecy or Black Shabbat, which is prior to the mournful fast of Tisha B’Av (Isaiah 1:1-27). The Shabbat dates change based on when the Sabbath is before the major fast day. Shabbat of Vision is also a day the Jews focus on their hopes of a third temple being built since the other two were destroyed. We who believe in Yeshua as Messiah, have a temple already built in our hearts that is constructed when we receive Yeshua as our Lord and Savior and then His Holy Spirit inhabits our temple.
