COVENANT FULFILLED
March 20, 2026
Almost seven years ago
I wrote the Covenant screeds
Holy Spirit shattered me
With God’s love and deeds
So with mini books in mind
God answered all my questions
Piled awesome on prior awesome
With timely revelations
Seven years ago and since then
I have nixed ‘new’ covenant
Fulfillment of the Genesis one
Wasn’t ‘new’ – big puzzlement
I wasn’t wrong, neither right
What was missing was the flesh
The desert choice the tribes made
Was blind, and needed the crèche
Just God’s grace wrought their escape
From slavery and Pharaoh
Rebelling in the wilderness
Left their options very narrow
Reject my grace, you’ll have laws
And rules and regulations
You will make these sacrifices
And obey my expectations
Yes please, they said willingly
Choosing laws over God’s grace
Laws they could never obey
Man sins, at a ghastly pace
By the time Christ came to earth
The laws a perfect failure
Compared to what’s in God’s mind
And previous behaviour
Paul writing to the Hebrews1
Compares the laws to God’s Grace
God’s Grace IS His Covenant
‘’New’ versus laws in place
The ‘new’s IN the Covenant
Now shining in it’s fullness
And Christ dying on The Cross
Offers Grace to put madness
Way better than any Law
And, oh boy, the promises
Beyond all expectations
Forgiveness not admonishes
Full forgiveness for all sin
Presence in Christ virtually
Holy Spirit living in us
New ‘man’ spiritually
Seen as righteous and healed
Eternal life expectation
Fellowship and partnership
Son’s and heir’s relationship
In Grace and Grace upon Grace
Though Jesus did raise the bar
But gone is condemnation
A call to rise up and far
But as in the wilderness
It’s always our choice alone
Choose this day whom you will serve
Two masters nev’r on one throne
1Here are the verses referring to the comparison to the law not to the Covenant in Genesis 15 which was the Covenant of Covenants:
For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah: Hebrews 8:8 KJVS
Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. Hebrews 8:9 KJVS
For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people: Hebrews 8:10 KJVS
In that he saith, A new covenant, he hath made the first old. Now that which decayeth and waxeth old is ready to vanish away. Hebrews 8:13 KJVS
