BAIT

My life a battleground
Accept it know the truth
Full time spiritual warfare
Has been so from my youth

The bait of my desire
Fodder to the enemy
Who work to occupy
Killing my identity

Without the Holy Spirit
Temptation rules the day
False refuges my solace
The enemy have their way

First I need God’s armour
Second to always turn
Immediately as
Otherwise I will burn

Never let conception
My bait and their desire
Mate and birth a sin cell
As death comes with the Liar

Inspired by Ya’akov 1:12-16 CSB:

12 How blessed is the man who perseveres through temptation! For after he has passed the test, he will receive as his crown the Life which God has promised to those who love him.

13 No one being tempted should say, “I am being tempted by God.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, and God himself tempts no one.

14 Rather, each person is being tempted whenever he is being dragged off and enticed by the bait of his own desire.

15 Then, having conceived, the desire gives birth to sin; and when sin is fully grown, it gives birth to death.

16 Don’t delude yourselves, my dear brothers.

Born in Scotland, lived in England, undeservedly married to Veronica, living in Canada. We have three daughters with wonderful families. An accountant by training, but a career mostly in Canada in varied business environments. After revelation about Our Triune God's Covenant and then retiring in 2014, I started writing poetry to try to understand the source of my childhood confusion and struggles since. The Lord's constant encouragement and love keeps drawing me to express my appreciation.
